3 Ways to Improve Body Image Right Now
Having a bad body image day can be really distressing. It often derails my clients progress.
How do you handle a bad body image day?
You need practical tips you can do in the moment. We are talking the short game, not the long game.
3 Ways to Improve Body Image Right Now
1. Wear comfortable clothes that fit your body right now.
Wearing comfortable clothes that fit will allow you to shift you attention away from your body. Ever wear a pair of pants that dig into your waist? I bet you think about your waist a lot more than usual. We don't need to draw more attention to feeling uncomfortable so wear fitting comfortable clothes.
2. Minimize looking in the mirror or focusing on your reflection.
You already feel uncomfortable. Looking at your reflection and ruminating on our appearance won't help and it will only make it worse. Ultimately we want to get to a place where we feel neutral about our image, but today is not the day. Minimize looking in the mirror on these days.
3. Take time to journal and reflect.
Body image is often a manifestation of our emotions. We want to get to the root of why we are feeling bad in our bodies. You don't need to specifically journal about your body. Just start writing. See if any emotions pop up. It's ok if you don't figure it out, but journaling and reflecting will allow you to process any emotions that could be influencing how you feel in your body.
